St. Michael's Cornhill Reopening Organ Festival

12/09/2010

Please join me on November 29th at 1:00 in the afternoon at historic St. Michael's Cornhill, London, for a recital featuring the newly renovated instrument there heard in the music of Johann Strauss II, César Franck, and Julius Reubke. Part of this organ dates from 1684, at which time Henry Purcell performed the opening recital. Additionally, it is the church where the composer William Boyce served as organist for 32 years, where the Royal College of Organists was founded, and where the recitalist and composer Harold Darke directed the music for 50 years.

A very special programme of events featuring the instrument has been planned with organists including Dame Gillian Weir, Dr Francis Jackson, Simon Preston, Hannah Parry-Ridout, Clive Driskill-Smith, Sarah Baldock, Nathan Laube, Simon Johnson and Gregory Drott.
